Hamble RAGE first brought Hampshire County Councils plans to the attention of the residents and workers of Hamble, Netley, and Bursledon at the end of November 2007. By leafleting 3000 homes and businesses as well as engaging the local radio, papers and TV we encouraged 1000’s of potentially affected people to submit their own comments to the Plan as well as submitting our own official response. Following the closing date of the 1st public consultation perios we have been speaking to all parties including Persimmon Homes, Hampshire County Council, local business leaders and Local politicians (we are strictly a-political) to establish all perspectives and to understand what we are up against. We have also done our best to engage the local media to keep the story alive and advise all local residents of any developments.
Supplementary to this we have also been engaging local businesses and fundraising so that we can prepare for the road ahead. There are currently a number of intiatives that we are undertaking to:
- Assess the fairness and thoroughness of Hampshire County Councils criteria for selecting the sites.
- Commission our own independent report to compare the viability of the sites.
It is our every intention to fight this threat firmly, professionally and fairly and to that end we have a committed and focussed team driving the campaign ably assisted by an army of key advisors on environment, planning, politics, government policy, PR and fundraising.
