The Need for Gravel ?

Why The need for gravel?

Each county throughout England has been allocated an amount of land-won sand and gravel that they have to source by central government.

This is for use in building and construction and is something we all create a demand for.

Hampshire County Council (HCC) has divided Hampshire up into regions.

Hamble is in the South Hampshire region where at present 3.69 Million Tonnes need to be found by 2016.

Existing site output in the South Hampshire area falls well short of the targets now required by government and the construction industry going forward.

So we appreciate why HCC is looking for sites but not why they have chosen the Hamble Peninsula sites as ‘preferred’ when many other more suitable sites exist that would have less impact on adjoining businesses and communities. To see the breakdown of sites within the South Hampshire area please click here or click the ‘Proposed Sites' link in the menu bar.
